How The Nexus Open Can Raise $10,000 For Help One Now

10.15.2019

A Letter From Chris:

Over the past year, I’ve made it my personal mission to get more involved helping others any and every way I can. Through this vision, I recently found myself in Haiti, with a couple of friends hoping to inspire some change and help those who can’t help themselves through a foundation called Help One Now. While there, I witnessed some of the amazing things that Help One Now is doing around the world through their work to empower families with proven solutions to end extreme poverty. Their goal is to resource high-capacity indigenous leaders in these developing countries, to train families to start businesses. This training lifts families out of extreme poverty and ripples into the surrounding communities for lasting impact.

As my plane touched back down in the states and I made my way back to my normal routine at Nexus, I began to brainstorm of a way I could continue to help even though I was over half a world away. It seemed like a difficult task, but surrounded by the Nexus Community, helping from thousands of miles away didn’t seem impossible anymore. The Nexus Community is one unlike any other. We come together, we support one another and in times of need, we give back to those who need our support. I’ve always wanted to use my gym as a way to help others, and I’m excited an opportunity has finally presented itself. You may be asking “How can I help?” That’s the fun part… Get ready to take the Nexus Open to a whole new level because during the next month, my goal is for the Nexus community to raise $10,000 for Help One Now

How It Works:

Each Nexus Open team will have its own fundraising page. The more money your team raises, the more points get shaved off your final Nexus Open score (note: the lowest Nexus Open score wins)!

Not on a Nexus Open team? This is your chance to participate! Choose your favorite team and donate to their page. Even share with your friends and family for extra support! Click here for Team Ben & Hannah, Team Chris & Lauren, Team Jake & Caroline or Team Matt & Kasey.

More about Help One Now:

Help One Now empowers families in developing countries through high-capacity local leaders with proven solutions to end extreme poverty. In 2007, the CEO of Help One Now, Chris Marlow, met a starving young orphan living in an abandoned gas station in Zimbabwe. That encounter compelled him to start Help One Now and dedicate his life to seeking justice by empowering leaders and organizing tribes to launch global movements that do good. HON serves in some of the poorest communities in the world, where people live on less than $2 US per day. In their work in these communities, empowering families has proven to be the most effective course for long term change. Through local leaders, they train families to start businesses and develop their surrounding community to support them.
