October MEPS Challenge
If you don’t have a MyZone Heart Rate Monitor, now is the time to get one!
During the month of October, Nexus Fitness is having a MEPS challenge! This means we will be tracking MEPS earned through your MyZone Heart Rate Monitor throughout the course of the month. We will be posting the top MEPS leaders on the TV screens in-between classes. As you rack up MEPS, you can claim your spot on the leaderboard!
MEPs is an acronym for MyZone Effort Points, and it’s the metric by which everything is measured in the MyZone system. MEPs are earned by exercising in your desired heart rate zone over a period of time. The more effort you put into your workouts, the more MEPs you earn! MEPS are not determined by your fitness level, but instead by the amount of effort you put into each workout. For example, you might burn fewer calories than your neighbor in a workout, but if you were pushing yourself harder for your fitness level, you will have earned more MEPS. Your own MyZone tile will be displayed on the screen in class so you can see your effort rewarded in real-time.
If you want to participate in the challenge – or simply want to track your heart rate as you exercise – purchase a MyZone heart rate monitor from Nexus before October 1st. MyZones allow you to track your progress and push yourself to the next level, as you can track your calories burnt and heart rate level in real-time during classes. If you aren’t as competitive or do not want to actively participate in the challenge, you can use your MyZone to simply feel better about tracking your progress from class-to-class and maximizing your workouts. After your workout, you can check your workout summary on the MyZone app to view stats like MEPs earned and calories burned.
Although MEPS and heart rate monitoring are most popular on the Xcel side of our facility, both CrossFit and Xcel members will be participating in this challenge. If you are on the CrossFit side, you can track your MEPS in the MyZone app after each workout. Maximize your time at Nexus Fitness by tracking your MEPS and pushing yourself to work hard each class.
